Wind farm project moving forward
Geronimo Wind Energy is one step closer to construction with the Courtenay Wind Farm in Stutsman County. The wind farm will be the first project to fall under new regulations which were established in 2009, and updated in 2013. The regulations help guide companies on where they can place wind turbines and also provide direction on required road maintenance and upgrades. Once the Courtenay project receives approval from the county’s zoning ordinance, construction can begin on the 200-megawatt project. There will be 100 turbines, each with a 2-megawatt capacity and could power as many as 60,000 homes. The company estimates that the project could be online by the end of 2014.
