Williston Basin Petroleum Conference wraps-up
More than 4,000 people packed the Bismarck Civic Center for this week’s Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, breaking records of past attendance for the conference and becoming the largest event that Bismarck-Mandan has seen. Discussions ranged from regional and global energy supply, technical review of geological formations in the Williston Basin and beyond, and managing community impacts in Western North Dakota. Highlights from the Bismarck Tribune include:
- Thursday morning’s CEO panel with Harold Hamm, president of Continental Resources, Jim Volker, CEO of Whiting Oil, and Dave Roberts, executive VP and COO of Marathon Oil.
- Director of the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources’ Lynn Helms’ “Bakken Basics” session with projections of a possible one million plus barrels of oil production in North Dakota by 2015.
- American Petroleum Institute’s President and CEO, Jack Gerard, gave a keynote address, praising North Dakota for regulatory balance and state government addressing infrastructure needs.
