Tribes ask for bigger cut of oil revenue
North Dakota’s Three Affiliated Tribes are asking for the Legislature to award a bigger percentage of tax revenue from oil pumped on the reservation. Currently, the tribe has collected $129 million of the $346 million collected from drilling on tribal lands over four years, which is 37 percent. The tribe plans on requesting 80 percent in the next Legislative session to help with infrastructure expenses, said committee chairman, Sen. David O’Connell, D-Lansford.
