Salt water ideal for road dust
The Petroleum Research Fund, in partnership with McKenzie and Dunn counties, completed a study that compared ten products for limiting dust on gravel roads. Many gravel roads in the western part of the state are seeing much more use due to the oil boom, causing a lot of road dust. Counties typically use a more expensive magnesium chloride mixture, but the study shows that saltwater from oil wells worked the best, making for an inexpensive option for companies.
