North Dakota wind jobs remain uncertain
Despite the extension of the wind energy PTCs, there’s no guarantee that the jobs lost in North Dakota this year will make a comeback. In September 2012, LM Wind Power, a wind blade factory in Grand Forks, laid off 345 workers due to the expiration of the tax credit. The head of manufacturing in Grand Forks said that any hiring in 2013 will depend on how business picks up. DMI Industries, a wind tower factory in West Fargo, N.D., closed its doors in September 2012 after being sold to Trinity Industries in Texas.
