New natural gas plant under review for Three Affiliated Tribes

The Fort Berthold reservation is currently producing 20 percent of oil production in the Bakken, and has 640 wellheads. Many of the areas producing oil on the reservation are fairly remote, and flaring of natural gas is close to 60 percent in those areas. Tex Hall, tribal chairman, said that those percentages are “entirely too high.” The addition of the natural gas plant will help reduce those flaring numbers. In addition, the Three Affiliated Tribes are also looking at several other changes related to the oil and gas industry. Those changes were discussed this past week at the Mandan, Hidatsa & Arikara Tribal Employment Rights Office Ordinance Seminar & Expo. The full article can be found in the Bismarck Tribune.
