N.D. utility starts up combined-cycle facility

Bismarck, N.D.-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative has started operations at its first combined-cycle facility near Brookings, S.D. The Deer Creek Station power plant runs on natural gas and steam with a capacity of 300 megawatts. Plans are to operate 12-16 hours per day, five days a week. A dedication will be held August 16. for the new plant, which employees 28 people.
