Mineral rights cases being reviewed

Mineral rights are again a hot topic in North Dakota, as two cases have surfaced that are bringing debate. The first case is under review by the North Dakota Supreme Court, and questions ownership of mineral rights under the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers. The second ownership disagreement brought two lawsuits against the state Department of Trust Lands. The lawsuits question a producing well along the Missouri that is situated between high- and low-water marks, and who is official property owner of that area.
