Million Gallon Pipeline Spill Will Require Several Weeks of Clean-Up

A pipeline owned by Aero Pipeline LLC has leaked approximately one million gallons of oil-production related salt water on tribal land near Mandaree. Some of the fluid also entered Bear Den Bay, which is a source of drinking water for the Three Affiliated Tribes. The leak was discovered after discrepancies were noticed in company production loss reporting. The salt water can be between 10 and 30 times more salty than sea water. Regulatory and health officials say that the clean up could take several weeks. Read more in the Bakken Breakout.
