Makoti refinery to break ground soon

The Three Affiliated Tribes is planning a spring ground-breaking on a refinery to be located near Makoti. The refinery would process up to 20,000 barrels of Bakken crude oil per day, making diesel fuel, propane and naphtha. Makoti is located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation near Minot, N.D. After more than ten years of planning and obtaining federal permits, the refinery is almost ready to go as the tribes complete financing and the initial phases of engineering. Another diesel refinery near Dickinson, N.D., the Dakota Prairie Refinery, broke ground last year, making it the first refinery to be built in the United States in more than 30 years. Another refinery is in the works near the Trenton, N.D. area. Read the article in the Bismarck Tribune.
