History and environment playing large role in North Dakota oil
The North Dakota Game and Fish Dept. and the North Dakota State Historical Society have been doing research into areas that will be leased at an auction in early August. Their roles are to review the land and identify any areas that might be significant environmental or historic areas. The auction takes place on a quarterly basis and the funds raised through the process are put into permanent funds, which, in part, are used to support public education.
