Great Plains and EmPower ND Energy Expo wrap-up

Researchers, entrepreneurs, policy makers and industry leaders gathered last week for the 5th Annual Great Plains & EmPower ND Energy Expo, held at NECE’s fourth floor. The day and a half event was hosted by US Senator Kent Conrad, US Senator John Hoeven, ND Governor Jack Dalrymple, Bismarck State College, Great Plains Energy Corridor, Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson, ND Department of Commerce and ND Chamber of Commerce.

The goal of the conference was to bring together energy experts to promote North Dakota’s current energy development and its potential to be a powerhouse for the country to decrease dependency on foreign imports of fuel. Senator Conrad, Senator Hoeven and Governor Dalrymple were there in person to applaud North Dakota’s efforts in this arena and encouraged exploration of innovative ideas to help further growth and development in the state. The agenda included a line-up of exceptional keynote speakers and panel discussions on a variety of topics ranging from hydraulic fracturing, workforce development, financing energy-related projects and national energy policy. Audience members had the chance for question and answer sessions after each presentation.

Overall, the Expo was well attended with 300 registrants, and the planning committee heard many good comments about the quality of the speakers chosen, the content, and the venue. Dates will be announced soon for the 2012 Great Plains & EmPower ND Energy Expo.
