Grass roots approach taken towards preserving Killdeer Mountains
The Killdeer Mountain Alliance is composed of archaeologists, historians, hunters and many others who are passionate about preserving the Killdeer Mountains and all the history that they represent. The area was recently approved for drilling, but the alliance is concerned that the area will be damaged if work begins. They have proposed moving the current drilling locations a mile south, which would keep drills out of the mountains. The mountains are on a list of approximately 40 areas that citizens wish to save, and are currently asking the Industrial Commission to review. Read more from the Grand Forks Herald.
