Fee split rate now permanent
Congress recently implemented legislation that makes a 51-49 percent fee split (favoring the federal government) permanent. The fee split originally went into place in 2008 and includes a 2 percent administrative fee, which was set to expire in January. The royalties splitting program paid out over $2.1 billion to 35 states, including North Dakota. The royalties are collected from on-shore oil and gas production on federal lands.
