EPA’s Carbon Pollution Standard for New Power Plants
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just released today its new limits on coal-fired power plants. The limitations will not affect power plants that are already online, or power plants coming on in the next year. There will be a grace period for future coal-fired power plants to meet the new standards because some of what the EPA is requiring, carbon capture and sequestration, is not commercially available. Read the Associated Press article in the Bismarck Tribune on the EPA’s new regulations for coal-fired power plants.
