EPA’s Carbon Pollution Standard for New Power Plants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just released today its new limits on coal-fired power plants. The limitations will not affect power plants that are already online, or power plants coming on in the next year. There will be a grace period for future coal-fired power plants to meet the new standards because some of what the EPA is requiring, carbon capture and sequestration, is not commercially available.
