Consumer choices becoming limited at gas pumps
Consumers will soon find it much more difficult to fill cars with ethanol-free fuel. The reason gas stations are switching is largely due to the 2005 Energy Policy Act, and the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), which was established by the Environmental Protection Agency. This standard was developed to increase use of renewable fuel in the U.S. The end goal of the RFS is to have 36 billion gallons of renewable fuel blends in use by 2022.
