Census Bureau Chief Visits ND, Oil Patch

The Director of the US Census Bureau was in North Dakota this week to get a first-hand look at the state’s population growth and booming energy sector.  Director John Thompson made the visit to the state at the invitation of US Senator Heidi Heitkamp.  Thompson visited Fargo, Bismarck and Williston and told state officials that the state’s recent population spike  makes it difficult to accurately track population growth.  The Census Bureau is looking at options, including public-private partnerships, to help achieve accurate census results in 2020.  Read more in the Bismarck Tribune.
