Biodiesel Production Helps Soybean Farmers’ Revenues
Biodiesel production is adding value to the bottom line for soybean farmers, contributing an extra $0.74 per bushel between 2006-2012. Soybean check-off boards in Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota recently commissioned the study to help determine the impact of biodiesel production in the US and found that the biodiesel industry is contributing an additional $15 billion in soybean revenues for producers. 2013 was a record-breaking year for US biodiesel production, with 1.36 billion gallons of biodiesel produced.
