ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit Day 2
Today was probably the highlight of the conference for me. It started with two great keynotes – Susan Hockfield, President of MIT, and Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox. They each gave their separate presentations, then had a conversation together with moderator Steve Clemons, editor at large for The Atlantic. Both women had great vision for moving the needle forward in America. A few highlights:
Ms. Burns: STEM education is essential; we must be impatient with the status quo; the path to a better life is a better mind; we need a system that drives creation and creativity.
Ms. Hockfield: the US needs to play hard to attract and keep the best talent; we need to drive down the cost of production and provide financing for new energy innovation; US has an ‘ambition deficit’
So much good stuff, I was really inspired by these two. I wish I could capture the entire message to share with you. Stay tuned for highlights from President Bill Clinton’s presentation.
